Tillman Associates To Perform Disparity Study For New York City
New York, New York (August 2003)—Mason Tillman Associates will perform a disparity study for the City of New York, to determine whether minority- and women-owned firms have equal access to do business with the city. The project was announced by the New York City Council on August 27, 2003, when council members expressed their commitment to ensuring that minorities and women are receiving their fair share of the $8 billion that the city spends annually on goods and services.
The study, which will last twelve months, will analyze contracts awarded by the city over the last five years and identify the businesses in the city’s market area that are “willing and able,” or qualified, to perform work for the city.
